Job Title: Analyst – Chartered Accountants

Analyst Capital Assets Planning & Analysis:
Principal Responsibilities
- Liaise with Procurement and Corporate Services teams to ensure appropriate accounting of Capital Asset acquisitions
- Review, research and clear reconciliation differences between General Ledger and Fixed Assets sub ledger
- Ensure monthly roll forward of Fixed Asset accounts
- Perform lease commitment analysis and prepare external reporting disclosures
- Prepare management reports and variance analysis for occupancy expenses
- Analyze global exit properties and related write-offs
- Liaise with Tax Department for entity reporting
- Assist in the planning and coordination of the firm wide budget process
Analyst Investment Management Division Controllers:
Principal Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute the Seed Capital Report on a monthly basis, which includes the Firm’s total committed and invested capital in GSAM funds, partnerships and separate accounts and process associated journals into general ledger
- Prepare and distribute the Net Investment Income Report on a weekly and monthly basis, and process associated journals into general ledger
- Ensure assets under management, sales and revenue accruals are loaded into the management reporting database by the correct product, sales channel and region
- Validate that the Gross Credit upfront and trailer fees are calculated and posted to the PWM Commission system
Analyst Management Reporting:
Principal Responsibilities
- Prepare entity and regional Legal Entity P&L
- Preparation and analysis of Firmwide and Controllers expenses, including:
- Direct and allocated expense charges
- Monthly accruals for certain non-compensation expenses such as consulting fees, legal fees
- Legal reserves, unallocated expenses, management service charges, etc.
- Month-end preparation and review of variance analysis. Projection of non-compensation expenses and related allocations on a firmwide basis
Analyst Legal Entity Accounting:
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist the Legal Entity Accounting group in the preparation of monthly financial statements under US GAAP or local GAAP (e.g. UK GAAP) & operate key controls over certain sections of the balance-sheet
- Manage relationships with other areas: e.g. Product Control, Operations, Tax
- Provide analysis and monthly comments to financial statements
- Perform the quarterly Balance Sheet substantiation process
- Analyze inter company balances, reconciliations, daily funding payments and resolving breaks
- Perform month-end process to properly reflect the Balance Sheet, P&L and Owner’s Equity
Analyst Fund Accounting:
Principal Responsibilities
- Review estimated and final monthly NAV calculations for accuracy
- Review monthly Rate of Returns with supporting documentation and internal/external managers to ensure reasonableness
- Review all accruals (audit, legal, organization, tax, listing, and miscellaneous) for consistency and reasonableness
- Shadow-book all fees, expenses and adjustments in the firms’ fund accounting system
- Review bank account reconciliations (prepared by external administrators) and assist in resolving reconciling items if required
- Review all broker cash and position reconciliations (prepared by external administrators) and assist in resolving reconciling items if required
- Review calculation of fees (administration, management, distributor, incentive, custody and trustee fees) for consistency and reasonableness
Desired:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting (B.Com.)
- Relevant work experience is in any of the above
- Able to easily grasp new concepts
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure
- Adept at multi-tasking and able to work in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Inquisitive, enthusiastic self starter with a strong analytical mind-set
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) required.
Qualification: Chartered Accountant.
