Outsourcing has become one of the major emerging trends these days and outsourcing of work to other firms or to organizations of other countries is done to reduce cost and increase the efficiency of work. This has become one of the main hubs of employment where the work is outsourced from major countries like USA, UK and Europe to countries like India, Japan and China.

KPO is originated from BPO with enhancements in the fields of knowledge and experience. As the name suggests, it is Knowledge Process Outsourcing(KPO) which involves many factors like higher theoretical knowledge, technical expertise and great analytical skills which are made use in business processes to achieve a higher level of profit and gain. KPO is not only limited to Information Technology sector but also widely extended to other fields like Biotechnology, Medical services, Pharmaceutical industry, Marketing and Business development, Finance and Investment analysis and also to Legal services. Therefore, it is much more than a Business Process Outsourcing(BPO) and has more career opportunities and a great chance to grow in this field.

KPO industry can come out as a highest revenue generator for many developing countries like India. It is predicted that around 70% of the work would be outsourced to India from other countries from all over the world by 2010. Thus pursuing a career in KPO industry is best suited for professionals like Business Analysts, Financial Accountants and Engineers which offers a high pay package to all its employees. The growth rate is predicted to go up by 20% compared to that of BPO.

A career in KPO companies will fetch you wide exposure to new technologies, expertise in domain skill sets and of course a fairly high paid salary pack when compared to BPOs and other Software companies. People are recruited and trained for new skills to meet the expectations of the evolving trends of this industry.

More and more foreign companies are depending on outsourcing, for their work to be done at a much cheaper and faster rate. Customers are pretty interested on work done rather than man-power and resources used in completing the work. They usually outsource the work because of lack of highly knowledged professionals in their surroundings, due to heavy pay packages offered to them and providing them good conditioned work environment for the completion of the project. This results in outsourcing of work to countries like India which has many skilled professionals at a much cheaper rate.

Hiring of people with expertise and experience, providing of proper infrastructure, maintenance of secured data confidentially and coping up with high pay structures are the major challenges faced by a KPO industry.

However, it would be beneficial for the both the freshers and professionals to achieve a higher goal in their career. There are wide range of opportunities to all people belonging to all sectors like Doctors, Lawyers and Architects.
