Job Details :
Oriental Bank of India (OBC), a leading public sector bank invites Online Applications from Indian citizens for 1105 posts in Clerical Cadre.

Educational Qualification (as on 01.10.2010):
Degree in any discipline or its equivalent with any class/division
10+2 examination or its equivalent with minimum 50%


Note :
(a) All educational qualifications should be from a Recognized University / Board.

(b) Candidates who state that they have graduated must have obtained the said educational qualification as on 01.10.2010.

(c) Candidates should know to read, write and speak the language of the State for which they are applying.

Computer literacy :
The basic knowledge in operating computer systems in Windows mode, knowledge of MS-Word/Office, Spread Sheets like MS-Excel and Internet & Email familiarity is an essential qualification which a candidate must either possess before joining the bank services or acquire the same within a period of 6 months of joining the bank, in case the candidate is selected for appointment. For this purpose, the candidate is required to submit a certificate in support of this computer related qualification.

Age Limit (AS ON 01.10.2010):

Minimum age – 18 years
Maximum age –28 years i.e. Born between 01/10/1982 and 30/09/1992 (both days inclusive)

Pay Scale : Rs.4410-13210/- (Revising soon)

Selection Procedure: The selection will be on the basis of written test and interview. All eligible candidates will be called for a written examination, which will be both Objective and Descriptive in nature.

Appointment :
The candidates selected finally from each State will be appointed within that State/UT in accordance with the norms framed by the bank in this behalf.

Probation & Approximate Total Emoluments :
Selected candidates shall be on probation for a period of 6 months after joining the Bank. Approximate total emoluments for graduates at the start of the scale in Clerical Cadre will be Rs.9200/- in Metro cities. Other benefits include Medical Aid, LFC and Retirement benefits etc. as per bank’s rules.


(a) The Bank is free to reject any application, at any stage of the recruitment process, if the candidate is found ineligible for the post. The decision of the Bank in any matter relating to recruitment at all the stages of the recruitment process will be final and binding upon the candidate. No correspondence or personal queries in this regard shall be entertained by the Bank. If any of these shortcomings is/are detected even after appointment, his/her services are liable to be terminated.
(b) Only candidates willing to serve anywhere in India need apply.
(c) Any dispute arising out of this advertisement shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of courts situated at NCT of Delhi.
(d) Use of calculators, mobile phones, pagers or any other instruments during the written examination is strictly prohibited.
(e) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
(f) All candidates will have to produce, if called for interview, originals as well as attested photocopies of their educational and experience certificates as well as caste certificate, certificate of handicap or any other certificate in support of their eligibility, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
(g) Candidates serving in Government/Public Sector Undertakings (including banks) must produce a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer if called for interview, failing which their candidature may not be considered.
(h) Any request for change of centre will not be entertained.
(i) In case of any dispute on account of interpretation in any version other than English, the English version shall prevail.
(j) Candidates will appear for the written examination at the allotted centres at their own expense and risk and the Bank will not be responsible for any injury/losses etc. of any nature.

Application Fees : Rs. 300/- (Rs. 50/- for SC/ST/PH/Ex-SM) to be deposited at any of the branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce only in Current A/c No. 00071011002147 from 25/10/2010 to 24/11/2010.

How To Apply :
Online Application registration on our website will be open (24 Hours) from 25.10.2010 to 24.11.2010.

To apply, candidates should first log onto our website www.obcindia.co.in under item “recruitment and results” at the bottom of the home page UNDER TITLE (APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CLERKS)”

Candidates should then take a Printout of the Fee Payment Receipt which should be filled in a clear and legible handwriting in BLOCK LETTERS.

Application fee may be paid in cash at any of the branches of Oriental Bank of Commerce only before applying online. Candidate must ensure that on deposit of fee in Current A/c No.00071011002147 the branch issues a receipt which should invariably mention under-noted items:

(i) Transaction ID. (ii) Branch Name (iii) Branch Code No. (iv) Date of deposit and (v) Amount
The payment of fees should be made on or before 24.11.2010. This date will be same for the candidates belonging to far-flung areas.

Applications once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and the application fee/ postage once paid shall not be refunded nor shall it be held in reserve for any other examination.

After payment, the candidate must collect the payment receipt; the particulars thereof are to be quoted in the on line application and the original receipt must be produced along with the call letter at the time of the written test.

Please note that even if the date for Online registration is extended the dates for payment of application fee will remain unchanged i.e. 25.10.2010 to 24.11.2010.

Payment of application fee and/ or postal charges by Demand Draft /Cheques/ Money Orders/ Postal Order etc will not be accepted.

Candidates are now ready to Apply Online by re-visiting the Recruitment Link on the Bank’s website to open up the Online Application Form.

Carefully fill in the details from the Fee Payment Receipt in the Online Application Form at the appropriate places. Fill in all other required details therein and click on the “SUBMIT” button at the end of the Online Application Form.

After applying online, take a print out of system generated online application form and retain it for future reference. Candidates are advised to keep a copy of the application print-out and Fee Payment Receipt for their record. They should not send the Printout or the fee payment receipt to the Bank.

The name of the candidate or his/her father/husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the certificates/mark sheets. Any change/ alteration found may disqualify the candidature.
Candidates are advised in their own interest to apply online much before the closing date and not to wait till the last date for depositing the fees to avoid the possibility of disconnection/inability/failure to log on the Bank’s website on account of heavy load on internet/website jam.

The Bank does not assume any responsibility for the candidates not being able to submit their applications within the last date on account of the aforesaid reasons mentioned or for any other reason beyond the control of the Bank.

Candidates are advised to remain in touch with Bank’s website for any information which may be put for further guidance.

There is a provision to modify the submitted online application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct the details in online application, if any. This Modification facility shall be available up to 26.11.2010. After this date, no modification will be permitted. Candidates should take utmost care to furnish the correct details while filling in the online application.

An ‘Information Handout’ will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for written test. Candidates serving in Government / Quasi Govt. offices, Public Sector Undertakings including Nationalized Banks and Financial Institutions will be required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer at the time of interview, failing which their candidature may not be considered and raveling expenses, if any other admissible, will not be paid. Original payment receipt will have to be submitted with the call letter at the time of written examination without which the candidate may not be allowed to appear for the Written Examination.
