SAP ERP VS. ORACLE ERP TECHNOLOGY
September 16th, 2009 Posted by VFreshersSAP and Oracle are two different database technologies used by many organisations according to their requirements. However SAP has replaced Oracle in these recent years in many enterprises by providing more accurate and easy deliverables to the end users. The conflict of SAP over Oracle is a continuous ongoing discussion within the experts who are using these two technologies.
Researches have shown that the battle is won by SAP because of its larger and stronger extendabilities towards business processes.
Some of the reasons that are responsible for taking SAP in front can be discussed briefly as below:
- SAP has a merit on building its own products and services, whereas Oracle has to depend upon different strategies to develop an application which is a major disadvantage in the current market.
- NetWeaver’s services of SAP are usually compared with that of Oracle’s Fusion architectures and it is clearly stated by many professionals that NetWeaver has been much easier with more functionalities than Fusion, but however Fusion application is an excellent selection for small sized enterprises because of precisely defined strategies that suits the profile of these companies.
- SAP has an industry advantage of attracting more and more customers these days because of its simpler strategies used in Customer and Supplier Relationship Management modules which has definitely increased the functionality of business processes for its users against Oracle which is lagging behind in many functionality modules and Service Oriented Architectures(SOA) used in the application.
- SAP technology is preferred by many companies because of their All-in-One business products and network compatible technology that suits well for a middle sized company.
- Installation and maintanence of Oracle database has been proved to be easier and beneficial for the companies when compared to SAP. Report generation when using SAP technology is complex and requires a relatively more number of Professionals for this job, this has been proved that oracle is more favorable in this regard to the organization.
- Focussing on small and mid-sized developing companies, business analysts say that Oracle has overwhelmed SAP because of high difference in cost. SAP is priced at a higher cost than Oracle and this has been a challenging problem to the small oragnisations who are in the verge of development. The difference is huge, around 40-48% average Total Cost of ownership(TCO) is curtailed when Oracle is used in these upcoming oragnisations.
The competition between Oracle and SAP companies is an ongoing continuous process for implementation and establishment of their new functionalities in the Small and Mid-sized business(SMB) market that will favor both the company and the end users. This has been an interesting topic to many experts who have used both Oracle and SAP and a much awaiting discussion as to who will win this cold war which is purely based on restructuring of business processes.
Both of the technologies have their own merits and demerits. However, it is for the organization to decide on which technology suits them the best, that will yield good, accurate and profitable results in the current business market.
